Four Roswell pitchers went 6 2/3 scoreless innings to defeat the JV Alpharetta Raiders 4 to 1 before a frozen home crowd. The Hornets deliver Coach Archambeau his first victory as JV Head Coach. Peyton Smith started the game and goes two innings (3 K’s – 0 BB’s – 0 Runs – 1 Hits – Double). Dalton Durocher went two innings (2 K’s – 3 BB’s – 0 Runs – 0 Hits) . Michael Mayuski went one inning( 1 K’s – 0 BB’s – 0 Runs – 0 Hits). Steven Sablich closed the game (1 K’s – 1 BB’s –1 HBP – 1 Runs –1 Hits – Single).
In the bottom of the first inning, Steven Sablich drives a ball to right center but was left stranded at second base.
In the bottom of the second inning, Peyton Smith beats out an infield single to the shortstop. Drew Davis gets on by an error at third base and John Albert gets hit by a pitch but the Hornets leave the bases loaded.
In the bottom of the third inning, Dalton Durocher gets on by an error by the shortstop. Bennett Barton pinch runs for Dalton. Steven Sablich gets hit by a pitch and Alex Dickerson lays down a perfect sacrifice bunt to move the runners to second and third. With one out, men on second and third, Peyton Smith scores Barton on a sacrifice fly to center field. Hornets – 1 – Raiders – 0.
In the bottom of the fourth, the Hornets bats came alive. Devin Browning gets on by an error on the shortstop. Adam Terrinoni pinch runs and steals second. Alex Hammen drops down a sac bunt to move the runner to third. John Albert gets a base hit down third base scoring Terrinoni. Matt Meeder gets on by an error followed a Sablich single to left field. Alex Dickerson scores Albert and Sablich on a nice hit down the line in right field. Hornets – 4 – Raiders – 0.
The Hornets played solid defense turning one double play in the 5th inning. FINAL: Hornets – 4 – Raiders – 1.
The JV Hornets will play the Milton Eagles at home in a double header this coming Saturday.
